uTorrent is lightweight free BitTorrent client developed by BitTorrent Inc. Due to various features of uTorrent and its size being around 1.4MB for Mac OS X, it is used by over 100 millions users worldwide. Its small size is achieved by avoiding usage of various libraries and this software is itself written in C++.

uTorrent can be installed in any Mac OS X including OS X 10.10 Yosemite, OS X 10.9 Mavericks and various old versions of OS X. Lets first see how to install uTorrent in Mac OS X and then we’ll talk about its various features.

How to install uTorrent for Mac OS X

Step 1: Download uTorrent

Go to official download page of uTorrent, and download the stable version of uTorrent which is uTorrent 1.8.7. The file would be named “uTorrent.dmg”.

Step 2: Install uTorrent

Open “uTorrent.dmg” file, and drag “uTorrent.app” to Applications folder. You’ll be prompted with a window saying “uTorrent is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it”,  just ignore the warning and open the application.
